Hello Conversationalists!
Happy new year to you from FreeIC! We hope that the last few weeks of holiday celebrations have been enjoyable and safe for you. 2020 was definitely a year for the history books and will leave most with mixed emotions; however, we at FreeIC were grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow, and for us to find new ways to have meaningful conversations! We are excited for what is yet to come in 2021, but for now, check out some highlights from December and a review of the year itself!
Virtual FreeIC Session with Rotaract MED & Europe
Once again we had another exciting virtual session with our rotaract friends from Rotaract Mediterranean and Rotaract Europe! We had 26 people log on from many different countries. From Egypt and Lebanon, to France and the Netherlands, and across the ocean to the U.S. where Cliff and Kyle joined from. Needless to say, coordinating time zones is tricky business, but once accomplished it is always well worth it!
Virtual Holiday FreeIC Session with Rotary District 1600 & Rotaract
This holiday session was a special event for us at FreeIC, as it was our first virtual event that featured primarily members from a Rotary club! On December 17th we joined Rotary Netherlands District 1600, along with a few rotaractors from around the world, to usher in the holiday season with a special online program that included great conversations and a holiday toast! It’s always a pleasure to speak with new people that have open hearts and interesting perspectives!
Year in Review!
For many, 2020 was a year of twists and turns, and for FreeIC this was no exception. We said goodbye to our social media intern Sarah, and we unfortunately had to cancel many in person events due to Covid-19; however, we also experienced a lot of growth and innovation! We hosted our first intercollegiate virtual event between Linn-Benton Community College & the University of Delaware, we hosted a joint event that featured a live Q&A with Professor Jonathan Haidt, we rebranded our website, and we began a relationship with our friends in Rotaract Mediterranean, while also continuing to grow with Rotaract Europe. Overall we had 17 events around the world and the momentum is still growing! Thus, we are looking forward to seeing what 2021 holds for us!
