2020-04 Newsletter
Hello Conversationalists!
March has been a tough month for many of us both individually and as a collective because of the COVID-19 crisis. We at FreeIC value the safety of everyone in our FreeIC community; so, we encourage everyone to adhere to government guidelines related to social distancing and staying home to slow down the spread of the virus. During this time of social isolation, we at FreeIC are looking to improve our processes, share new ways for people to connect virtually, and are planning for the future when we can once again go outside, as at that time many people will be looking for social activities like FreeIC. To find out more about what we did in March, and some things we will consider in April, continue to read on!
Goodbye to Sarah
It is at this time that we share the bittersweet news that our Social Media intern will be moving on from working with FreeIC due to new personal responsibilities. Sarah has done a phenomenal job managing our social media platforms, and though we will miss her, we are excited for the new opportunities that are being revealed in her life, and for her to continue to grow and succeed.
Virtual Outing In Poland
Rotaract District 2231 in Poland successfully carried out the first virtual FreeIC experience! Check out some photos from their virtual meetup below!
During this time we will be looking to launch more virtual outings so be on the lookout for more information in the next few weeks!
FreeIC Takes Action Amidst Social Isolation
As was shown above, FreeIC is looking to find alternative ways to remain active, especially during this time period where people have been physically isolated from their family and friends. Here are some exciting initiatives and partnerships that FreeIC wants to use to make a difference and connect people during this time:
We at FreeIC are working with universities in different parts of the United States to host virtual FreeIC sessions amongst classroom students. We not only hope to connect the students who share the same online class, but also want to connect students from different colleges and university campuses. Professor Lindsay Hoffman from the University of Delaware and Professor Mark Uristra from Linn-Benton Community College have both agreed to work with FreeIC to connect their students for virtual group conversations. We are excited for this to happen within the next few weeks! If this is something your school may be interested in, reach out to us at http://freeic.org/contact
2. Originally we at FreeIC were planning a week of conversation with our Rotaract Europe and Mediterranean partners. Given the COVID-19 crisis, we have transitioned our plan to one where Rotaractors from these two areas can coordinate virtual FreeIC sessions across their clubs. Be on the lookout as this continues to unfold.
3. Thanks to the vision of Alex, one of our community managers, and visionaries at Greenhouse (company where Alex works), we have successfully hosted some virtual FreeIC sessions across their offices, and look to continue to deepen our relationship with them to add value to their work community.
